Newsprint Pricing Continues Unprecedented Increases
Abitibi Bowater, the
world's largest producer of newsprint paper, announced
significant price increases for the 4th quarter. These
price increases will raise costs yet another $60 per
metric ton. With this announcement, we will have received
fourteen consecutive monthly price increases.
The Vice President of North American Newsprint Sales
for Abitibi Bowater, notes that they had hoped for
modest increases but are experiencing enormous and
continued cost pressures from the US dollar value as
well as unprecedented inflation in wood, power and
transportation costs (letter
attached).
With this rise in the cost of newsprint, as well as increases in other raw material costs, it is inevitable that prices on all bingo paper products will increase. We urge you to share this information with your employees, and particularly, all game operators, so they can begin to make adjustments to their operations now.
